2022 Classes

This spring and summer I am offering classes in Bird Photography, Garden Photography, and Abstract (impressionist and expressionist) Photography.

Bird Photography - Learn how to photograph the many bird species that transit through and nest in and around Beaumont.  In this series of 3 classes you will learn the do's and don'ts of bird photography, discuss gear required, and learn valuable tips and tricks to help you get your shots.  There will be a 2 hour instructor led photowalk, location to be determined during class, and weather dependent, in the Beaumont area (up to a 30 minute drive) to practice your skills.  The last class will be a chance to show some of the pictures you captured, gain feedback, and ask any follow up questions.  Equipment/gear questions can be forwarded via email to the instructor prior to class.

Runs May 10 to May 24, 2022 from 7 to 9 pm.  Adjustments to class time for photowalk will be discussed during first class.

Garden Photography - In this workshop you will learn and practice many different techniques and tricks to bring out the best in your garden photography.  Whether it's the flowers, landscapes, macro subjects, bugs, wildlife or all of the above that catch your eye, the instructor will show you how you can make your images shine.  This course will involve multiple photowalks to practice what you are learning and give multiple opportunities for feedback and help, including a photowalk at St. Albert Botanical garden on a weekend where you can practice what you have learned.  Beginner to intermedicate photographers with a basic understanding of their camera welcome!  Please bring your camera and manual with you to all classes.

Runs May 31 to June 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Abstract Photography - In this 4 week, 5 class workshop you will learn and practice how to use camera motion to make impressionist and expressionist abstract images.  Practicing on a variety of subjects including nature, architecture, people, and still life you will learn and practice multiple techniques for making painterly style photographs.  At least two photowalks will be part of the class and there will be multiple opportunities to ask questions and gain feedback.  This class is for intermediate photographers who have a good working knowldege of their camera and the exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO).  Please bring your camera and manual to each class.

Runs May 25th to June 15th 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
